03 Dec Exploring New Concepts: Jacob Pod
I have started a startup venture with a few friends in and out of the music scene selling coffee pods online under guise of the name “Jacob Pod”. This is very very different to Lesstalk Records, very separate but still an important part of my life.
Lesstalk Records, thanks to the great work of Ben Rivers has become more than just about music, it has been incorporating art, poetry and even expressing yourself culinarily (in the kitchen). Experimenting with new forms of expressing creativity outside of music.
I think that unless you are actively engaged with change you want to see in the world, nothing may or may not happen. While selling coffee pods may seem like a strange output in terms of “what else”, but its more about what can you make of it? How can you support and enhance your friends passion in life, and will to create a better more active part of a larger DIY community.
I don’t expect everyone to immediately go out and start buying up Nespresso compatible coffee pods, but coffee being such a large ingredient in everybody’s daily lives (he writes while sucking back on a hot bean). How can we use a business that may or may not become a staple for supplying someones daily nutritional requirements be a vehicle for greater change? Or at the very least allow us to involve our friends more positively in our own lives outside of sitting in a smelly pub, and help them create and build their own businesses/services to improve their future.
