Over the years Sydney 2-piece thedowngoing have proven to be one of Australia's darkest, nosiest, and most chaotic grindcore bands. The dastardly duo are set to release their newest aural atrocity "ATHOUSANDYEARSOFDARKNESS" next month.

Press release follows:
Sydney grindcore 2-piece thedowngoing are set to release their newest aural atrocity "ATHOUSANDYEARSOFDARKNESS"
The 12 track, 10 minute noisegrind experiment will be released via “Cancerous” Slimline CD and be available for streaming/purchasing/pirating at THEDOWNGOING.BLOGSPOT.COM from Friday July 20th, 2012.
After the 2011 release of their Untitled EP mini-CD, thedowngoing have caught the attention of many in the grind community, including AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED vocalist J. RANDALL, who digitally re-released the EP on his own label GRINDCORE KARAOKE.
thedowngoing would go on to be awarded the title of BEST RELEASE OF 2011 by GRINDTODEATH.COM and 7th by GRINDANDPUNISHMENT.BLOGSPOT.COM "...Untitled EP shows the band reaching new, dizzying artistic heights."
"ATHOUSANDYEARSOFDARKNESS" builds on the platforms laid by 2011's Untitled EP, refining and pushing thedowngoings' unique sound further. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Jono Boulet (Jonathan Boulet, Snake Face) "ATHOUSANDYEARSOFDARKNESS" is a vicious listening experience as thedowngoing teeters on the edge between grindcore and complete audio collapse.
And what better soundtrack to the harsh winter conditions, than to have thedowngoing venture out from their nihilistic cave dwelling existence to provide godless grindcore to the frostbitten masses on their 2012 WINTER TOUR throughout July and August.

Grindhead Records will have its full store set up including merch, vinyl and as always CDs will be on sale for $5 each. Slaughterfest V will also be the launch day of Von Grimm Records, who will have a selection of stoner, doom and sludge vinyls form all over the world.
July 30: Slaughterfest IV featuring Fuck I’m Dead, Looking Glass, Mother Mars, Agonhymn and loads more!
For me, annual underground stoner, doom, grind and metal festivals like Grindhead Records' Slaughterfest, 666 Entertainment's Doomsday and Little Bird Agency's Devil's Kitchen are often sure-fire shortlisters for the best gigs of the year. The promoters of each of those festivals usually have quite a knack for producing a smooth-running, well thought-out and well-promoted festival with just the right amount of big interstate names and variation of styles.
This years Slaughterfest - the 4th edition since the festivals inception back in 2007 - is certainly no exception. Infact, I honestly cannot remember a more impressive and varied line-up - nor a show I was more excited about. The value for money (15 bands for $20) is certainly nothing to scoff at.
Grindhead Records and 666 Entertainment have teamed up to bring us an incredible day, balanced out with a nice mix of grind, stoner, sludge, metal, crust, punk, hardcore and doom. If I can give you one piece of advice it would be to GET THERE EARLY. My gut feeling is this one is certainly going to sell out (you should be going out of your way to catch Fat Guy Wears Mystic Wolf Shirt anyway, they fucking RULE).
Without further ado, here is the line-up for Slaughterfest IV:
Saturday July 30 - The Sandringham Hotel
Entry $20, doors at midday.
- Fuck I'm Dead (VIC)
- Looking Glass (ACT)
- Roadside Burial
- Mother Eel
- Mother Mars
- Ether Rag
- Red Bee
- Agonhymn (VIC)
- Burial Chamber
- Rock n Roll Weapon
- Fat Guy Wears Mystic Wolf Shirt
