IDYLLS hitting Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Adelaide
I'm getting pretty fucking excited about catching IDYLLS in Sydney this weekend. If you haven't read my review of their latest LP, do so now.
IDYLLS have got two shows happening this weekend in Sydney's underground; one at Jura Books and one at Black Wire Records. Get to them. If you're outside Sydney, be sure to catch them when they're in your town.

New IDYLLS album is available now
IDYLLS' new album, optimistically titled 'Farewell All Joy', is available now through Monolith and Tenzenmen.
When you pre-order the 12" you get an IMMEDIATE download of the album. It's fucking loose. They've got some cool shirts too. Check it out if you're into Agents of Abhorrence, early Converge or Discordance Axis (and maybe Daughters or The Locust?).
Press thing says this:
‘Farewell All Joy’ is an intense journey that brings to ferocious light the uglier sides of human experience. Brisbane’s IDYLLS balance astounding technical precision and an unbridled punishment across all instruments with a gnashing, multi-faceted vocal input. The 10 harrowing tracks warp 20 minutes through an insurmountable passage of time, with absolutely maniacal arrangements, grinding intensity, and sudden yet progressive drops in mood as key components.
Oh yeah, and they're playing 30 June at Black Wire Records with Serious Beak. More on that later.
Serious Grindparty at Black Wire Records this Saturday!
UPDATE: Spoonfed are out. Battle Pope are in!
Art As Catharsis and Black Wire Records presents GRINDPARTY! A celebration of some of the fastest and most intense music that Australia has to offer. The first GRINDPARTY! takes place on Saturday 12 May, 2012 at Black Wire Records.
Headlining the night are those lovable positive powerviolence scamps Michael Crafter - hot off their recent tour of New Zealand. They are joined by their Sunshine Coast brethern Laeirs and Vile Specimen, as well as the always-intense Spoonfed, and local merchants of dissonance Fat Guy Wears Mystic Wolf Shirt.
This awesome event could only ever happen at Black Wire Records -- one of Australia's premier underground venues that continues to support experimental, heavy and fringe music. Support the underground, and get down to this show.
Doors are at 7pm. $10 entry. Drinks are BYO, and all ages are welcome. This is a night of nuttin but blast beats, beer bongs and blazin' chongs.

June 25 & 26: Captain Cleanoff return to Sydney with Death-Cult Jock!
Captain Cleanoff and Death-Cult Jock return to Sydney this June in a caustic grind double-header!
AusGrind and 65 Degrees Music Café are proud to announce that tri-state grinders Captain Cleanoff will return to Sydney for the first time since December 2009. They are joined by Adeladian blast-beat addicts Death-Cult Jock for a duo of caustic double-headers of debauched aural extremity.

Long a staple of the now legendary and defunct Metal for the Brain festival, Captain Cleanoff have enjoyed a long run as one of Australia’s most-loved grindcore bands – instigating wild moshes and obscene dance-moves wherever they go. For many Aussie grinders, their combination of blast-beat infused punk and an indelible sense of groove is just too infectious to deny.
Now the name Death-Cult Jock may not ring a bell, but its members are definitely no newcomers to the Australian underground music scene. Having played in groups like Space Bong, Meat Wallet, God God Dammit Dammit, The Rivalry, Night Hag and many more, this group plays frenzied, crust-laden grindcore at breakneck speed, calling to mind the likes of Insect Warfare and early Napalm Death.
The tour supports are mix of old and new, featuring;
- thrash punk favourites Burning Servant.
- death/grind veterans Roadside Burial.
- the powerviolence punk duo of Michael Crafter.
- the dissonant and angular jazz/grind of newcomers Fat Guy Wears Mystic Wolf Shirt.
- the hyper-sexualised pious swing/grind of Battle Pope.
- old mates from Ebolie playing in their new frenetic grinding-tech-polyrhythmic-latin-jazz-grind outfit Serious Beak.
