Dark Horse Throwing Bombs: Album Launch

Dark Horse Album Launch

Pay particular attention to the band names

The mighty DH, the Dark Horse, the band that has kept on keeping on.  Formed by a bunch of hardcore relics from the golden age, they have released something new on a media of said age.  This new album, Bomb Thrower, is available, not only on CD, but also on Cassette.  I imagine not recorded over your favourite Bob Marley mixtape.

So get to it!  See Dark Horse with Hostile Objects, Michael Crafter and Black Rheno at the place of most importance to the Sydney Scene: Blackwire Records.

You can keep up to date with all things Dark and Horse-like through their Facebook.

With Michael Crafter, every party is a P.V. Party

PV PartyNorthern beaches sweater's Michael Crafter (the band) are not previous fans of prom queen, they are a bunch of club hopping, pill popping powerviolence partiers. Their newest release is proof to that fact, release a split tape with DJ JAWA. The other side includes a mashup remix of all the other tracks on side A. Most definitely a very self obsessive move by this duo, but i guess when your band name is called Michael Crafter a split with yourself seems rather appropriate, keeping to the theme of that hardcore tosser. Songs were originally scheduled for a split seven inch release on the now spent Six Nightmares Label (more info about that here), they are finally out and about on the cassette due to drop mid December. It has some great cameo's from Iain "Gilbo" Gilbert himself so keep an ear out for those on the tape, after all he did produce it.

Michael CrafterThe other side by JAWA sees an experimentation by himself using only samples from the songs, jumping between different dance genres that I have limited knowledge on stretching as far as from Dub-step to Moombahton (some crazy hyper tribal stuff). And the other side more straight up lo-fi punk/powerviolence one can come to expect from Michael Crafter with songs about youth crews holding hands under the cubicle to take shits, smoking bongs on DY beach and the usual references to Michael Crafter's gym regime.

The Kill ‘Hate Sessions’ OUT NOW!

Posted by Lachlan

The Kill Hate Sessions - OUT NOW!Well, those kind chaps over at No Escape Records have once more released an absolutely essential Australian grindcore classic. I'm not kidding when I say that you NEED to own this to qualify as a fully formed human being. This is possibly one of the most insanely paced pieces of thrashing grindcore violence on earth; executed flawlessly.

This 'Hate Sessions' release features their awesome and long out-of-print MCD 'Soundtrack To Your Violence' which featured Jay from Fuck I'm Dead's insane single-pedal blast beats and back-up vocals (seriously, watching him play is down right scary), Roby from Blastasfuk shredding riffs and Tony from Blood Duster and The Day Everything Became Nothing screaming his lungs out like never before. Hate Sessions also has their cult-as-hell demo that was originally released as a cassette (ooh how retro).

Download the track We Want Blood from here, or scope out their myspace at www.myspace.com/thekillgrind

Here's the No Escape blurb:

Finally back from the dead after almost 5 years of silence, they have returned… Australia’s most blast as fuck band ever, the lynchpins of the infamous Melbourne Grind Syndicate have reformed. That band is, of course, The Kill! The Hate Sessions compiles their mindblowing MCD, The Soundtrack To Your Violence, which was released in 2003 by No Escape and ran out of print soon after and the legendary demo which was originally released on cassette also through No Escape and we are thrilled to have the honour of making their legacy of insane racket available once again!

The Kill pushed grindcore to such extreme heights that even 5 years later no one has been able to come close to the benchmark they set. Utterly frenzied and inimitable riffing, relentless single kick blasting ferocity and psychotically abusive vocals combined to create the most unique and extreme sonic violence ever laid down by just guitar, drums and vocals! You cannot protect yourself from what they have planned next, but you can familiarise yourself with their past atrocities so you can at least be prepared when you meet your untimely end.

There will be more. That’s not a promise. That’s a threat.
