Conation Farewell Tour February 2010

Posted by Lachlan

Didn't catch them on their recent reformation tour in support of Propagandhi? Well good news, because raging Newcastle hardcore punkers Conation are pulling themselves together one last time for a semi-national tour! Chances are this is the last time you are ever going to see these guys (though you may have heard that one before).

They've also got a new release coming out called "The Clouds Are Gathering" on Poison City Records. The EP was originally recorded almost 4 years ago. Since reforming for the Propagandhi tour, the group has made it back into the studio in short bursts to finally complete this long-awaited released. Poison City Records claims that this is the 'essential posthumous chapter from one of Australia's most important socio-political punk bands'.

Here's the tour listing, baby:

Conation "The Clouds Are Gathering" Tour February 2010

Friday the 5th of February 2010
Engima Bar - Adelaide, SA

Saturday the 6th of February 2010
The Arthouse - Melbourne, VIC

Sunday the 7th of February 2010
Brunswick Arts - Melbourne, VIC - ALL AGES!

Thursday the 18th of February 2010
TBC - Brisbane, QLD

Saturday the 20th of February 2010
Croation Bowling Club - Newcastle, NSW

Friday the 26th of February 2010
The Sandringham Hotel - Sydney, NSW

Saturday the 27th of February 2010
Oxford Tavern - Wollongong, NSW

Bleh... what kinda massocist ends their farewell tour in Wollongong? Nasty.

Conation announce reunion show supporting Propaghandi

Posted by Matt

The smallest yet most influential band to come out of Newcastle have announced a reunion show. Conation! The melodic hardcore grind outfit featuring members of Fear Like Us, Captain Cleanoff and A Death in the Family have come together after a 3 year hiatus to support the mighty Propaghandi on the Newcastle show. This rumor has been floating round for some time between many conversations and now it is confirmed. I personally am very excited, purely for the fact that I never had the chance to watch them last time round and decided against going to their final show which I much regret.

For those who don't know Conation they are the single largest influence for most Newcastle hardcore band in the last 10 years, they had a very different sound and shaped much of the Newcastle music. In a good way. They existed from 1997 till 2006 before calling it a day. With a sound unlike any band that I can think of,  perhaps Napalm Death meets Bjork. Or something fucked like that.

Their is also mumbles about their EP with they have been recording on and off for the past 3 years to come out with a run of national shows, but nothing is in stone especially with the announcement of ADITF going to USA in March.

Tyre Swans East Coast Tour

Posted by Matt

Tyre Swans are touring the east coast of Australia over January. My folk band (The Pocket) are playing a couple of dates with them so pretty stoked to get out of this stinking town. But I will post more information about that later. Tyre Swans have an album coming out on Poison City Records soon and these dates are to support that. Not sure where their Sydney show is yet but definitely get along to that if you can! Seeming they are in other really active bands I don't think that this opportunity comes around that often.

The Tyre Swans project as some people may not realise is Jamie Hay (A Death In The Family / Fear Like Us ), Donnie Dureau (of Blueline Medic) and Darren (of Away From Now / Lead Sketch Union) all playing collaboratively together.  Read below for dates!
