Dark Horse Throwing Bombs: Album Launch

Posted by mothereel
Dark Horse Album Launch

Pay particular attention to the band names

The mighty DH, the Dark Horse, the band that has kept on keeping on.  Formed by a bunch of hardcore relics from the golden age, they have released something new on a media of said age.  This new album, Bomb Thrower, is available, not only on CD, but also on Cassette.  I imagine not recorded over your favourite Bob Marley mixtape.

So get to it!  See Dark Horse with Hostile Objects, Michael Crafter and Black Rheno at the place of most importance to the Sydney Scene: Blackwire Records.

You can keep up to date with all things Dark and Horse-like through their Facebook.

Dark Horse take on Japan

Posted by mothereel
Missed opportunity

It should have been a horse vs giant being

I'm extremely envious.  Those boys have managed to pull off an amazing little tour over in one of my favourite countries, Japan.  It's not right that I am though, neither of my bands have put in much effort to do anything but yeah....  How good is it to be human!

Anyway, here's the details of their first show and it's a doozey!  Bands from all over are coming together for this bit of messy noise.

Dick jokes and Jap jokes *sigh*

Up there in the Jap's eye!   An all international cast!

Then there's the big one, the massive deal, probably one of their greatest gigs to date... The Japanese Obscene Extreme!

See if you get that one!

The way it all goes down.

So many great bands, so many forms of freak music, Obscene always rules!!  We wish you well young Australian men!

You can purchase many Dark Horse things from the Grindhead Records website such as their album Sick of the Living/High on Death, the split with Repulsion-esque Black Jesus, or the other split with Indonesian Gore Grinders Badak Singa.

You also have the choice of going to their bandcamp.

Every Year Death Grinds!

Another year, it's here!  Christmas for those into extreme underground local talent has arrived.  Bubsy, who plays Santa in this metaphor, has done it again, or maybe he's gone done better than last year!  What a line-up!!

Showcasing a bunch of fools with instruments from a wide variety of towns and villages, this year's East West has bands from South Australia, the mightiest contribution from Victoria, Tasmania is showing up and even a few bois from the A.C.T are coming around to make some noise.

Split over 2 days/nights, you'll have to plan ahead for this one.  Buying entry to both shows gets you a healthy discount.

Keep up to date with set times and other announcements by going to the facebook event page.

Blasterpieces represent!

It's here!  Christmas for those into extreme underground local talent has arrived.  Bubsy, who plays Santa in this metaphor, has done it again, or maybe he's gone done better than last year!  What a line-up!!

Showcasing a bunch of fools with instruments from a wide variety of towns and villages, this year's East West has bands from South Australia, a mighty contingent from Victoria, Queensland is represented and even a few bois from the A.C.T are coming around to make some noise.

Sydney's darlings, Ether Rag, are also launching their highly anticipated 7" so make sure you save a handful of post-beer coins to exchange for that sexy vinyl.  Grindhead Records will, of course, also have their distro with a fine selection of extreme music from around the world with maybe even a few choices being available for under $5!

I'm also playing, this time I'm filling the bass and vocals for those handsome Backpacker boys.  That should be interesting... hopefully.

Cripple Bastards & Jig Ai in Sydney!

Posted by mothereel

BYO at a DIY!! Couldn't be more Grind if it tried!!

That other guy, who does most of the stuff of Grindhead Records*, has pulled this little beauty out.  For those of you who cant make OEF in Victoria this year, here's the alternative.

Cripple Bastards from Italy, first time in Australia.  Jig Ai from Czech Republic, I believe their first time in Australia.  Both want to impress, caress and distress you.  Both known for their past.  Both are looked to for the future.  I'm rambling.

The Sydney bands are smiled upon by many.  Ether Rag being hailed as the best the region has to offer in grind.  Dark Horse have been doing some great things with their D-Beat style as well.

It's one of those gigs.  Be there or cry about it later.

Here's the facebook event page.

*you know I co-run the label now, don't you?  Just thought I better mention it, in case I start blathering about how awesome a label it is and how it does all these great things for the scene and bands etc.  Potential bias and conflict of interest in reporting stuff.
