Iron Lung Records now streaming on Bandcamp
A slew of Iron Lung and their record labels back catalogue is now available for streaming and MP3 download from bandcamp. There is some cool shit on this bandcamp including the collab Hatred Surge/Iron Lung 7", the Total Control (Eddy Current much?) LP released last year by Iron Lung Records and plus heaps of their older releases including Iron Lung's epic 2007 full length Sexless//No Sex. There's a few gigs on around Sydney this weekend, but I'm not sure of the relevence to this blog. Not like you attend them anyway do ya?
Naturally I'm going to put my interests first...
All grind, all death, all 'good'
There has been a line-up change for the 3rd East West DeathGrind Fest and set times are posted up on facebook.
If you're cheap, but not too cheap, there's Lachlan's band having an album launch.
It is free entry to see a bunch of bands that have mentioned having problems with death metal, but you should buy an album... which isn't free.
Not to forget Friday, this is more doom than anything, but I've seen doom mentioned on here before, so...
And I'm bored of this. Go out to a show. Get info on other shows. Stop relying on the internet.
You could be an Anal Cunt
The guys in Tenderloin Hooker Needles are putting together a compilation for the love of and in tribute to Anal Cunt. They want you, your gutter band and a recording device to meet and hopefully pull something out. See below:
So this is a labor of love. We simply want to gather bands, people in basements, doing electrogrind...whatever...that share a love for noisy grindcore like Anal Cunt. We are setting a target date of October 25th to have it compiled, mastered, designed and ready to release via zip archive with 320kbps MP3 quality.
I don't expect a lot of groups to participate so if you want to send more songs for us to include, feel free...we can create a Vol. 1 and a Vol. 2, etc. The noisier and dirtier you can get the grind...the better!
What we need:
1) Band bio
2) Band logo
3) Band picture
4) Song in one of these formats: .AIF (Apple lossless), .WAV, 256kbps or above MP3
5) A link for us to pick the song(s) upWhat you'll get:
1) A release link so you can distribute on your respective sites

A night of grinding death, blasts and noise featuring Daemon Foetal Harvest, Burial Chamber, Granny Fist, Corpsickle and Lower Back Problems (who I believe are quite new but feature members of numerous bands of yesteryear).
I couldn't find much of anything else out there to do this weekend. There's just some sucky cover bands (both the band they are covering and the cover band itself suck) and boring 'indie' DJs. Do you want to waste your time and money on those things?!?!?
Grindhead Records are also offering their release Gutted With Broken Glass for free to the first 50 people and all other releases on sale at the merch desk for a very tasty $5. Bring a wad of cash and a bag. For an idea of what CDs you may want to buy, head to the Grindhead site.

DOWNLOAD: The Matador – Descent Into The Maelstrom
Brisbane's post-metal outfit The Matador have released their new EP "Descent Into The Maelstrom" for free/name-your-price download.
The album itself is a collage of epic doom, haunting vocals, dark post-rock and meditative, reminiscent at times of Rosetta, Helm and Cult of Luna. It's immediately obvious that they guys spent a lot of time, effort and money on this release - it has been carefully produced. Like the guys say on their Bandcamp page - recording an album like this is not cheap, so if you dig it, please donate some money.
I've been spinning the album all morning and have been pretty bloody impressed. There are some really interesting and introspective sections - moments of beautiful post-rock fluttering, of dark, pummeling aggression and everything in-between. Infact - I might just write a review on it sometime soon.

This one's for everyone, Dee Why powerviolence band Michael Crafter has now made their first Demo tape free for download from their bandcamp website, it features such classic tracks as "I Killed The Scene Queen" and "I've Quit A Band LOL" you know it is sure to be a hit with the whole family.
