Seems to be a pretty quiet night in old Sydney town.
There's that Hardcore Superbowl on Friday with Toe to Toe which throws back to the old school hardcore punk gigs, and then we've got Fuck Oath playing the Sando on Sunday night.
Here's a cool clip of PORTAL playing Glumurphonel live with real good sound quality to make it up.
Welcome to the end of the world. Lachlan is off on tour raping men and kissing babies so you cunts are stuck with me for a few days. Suck shit.
This Sunday at the Sando some real hectic old school grind bands are coming together to tear each other to shreds. It should be killer. Cross dresser Taipan are at the top of the bill and their Punk Hardcore style is always loud, always abrasive. Beer Corpse are always drunk, always. Fuck Oath I don't think I've seen but I'm pretty sure they they are sometimes good. And my favorite's of the lot Newcastle's Granny Fist, those dudes are about as fast as you can get. Then playing a Sunday should be interesting for them to say the least but if you are going to this show don't miss them. Luke's bleeding brutal vocals are something to be experienced. Especially when he throws up into the plastic bag he has tied around his head.

This seems to be the weekend for Grindhead Records CD launches. Sydney beercore cunts Fuck Oath are launching their new album at The Lansdowne on Friday with a bunch of jerks and Kill A Celebrity and New Blood are launching their new releases at The Bald Faced Stag this Saturday with a bunch of jerks.
Friday night Fuck Oath are up first at a free gig at The Lansdowne Hotel. They are joined by Deathcage, A.V.O. and The Corps. How can you go wrong with a free gig, a good feed and a decent selection of James Squire beers? That kicks off at 8pm.
Saturday night Ebolie return to the stage after a 6 months hiatus - only to go back into a hiatus since their guitarist apparently needs knee surgery. Kill A Celebrity are launching their split with Krupskaya. They will be flogging off these splits for $5 and merch for $10. New Blood are also launching their new album. Also playing are Nobody Knew They Were Robots and Sound the Mute. Entry is $10 and that kicks off at 7:30pm.
That's two decent gigs to pre-occupy yourselves with. Enjoy.
This Saturday the 4th of April sees one of the Sydney crust band Sordid's final shows. Their singer Keef is packing up and leaving town, so try and get down to support em. The show is at Talbot St Studios in St. Peters, which is a pretty cool DIY venue slash rehearsal studio located at 4 Talbot St. It's just off the Princes Highway, and not too far from the station.
Joining them on Saturday are old school booze grinders Beer Corpse, thrash/punk outfit Dead, Wasted, ever-improving Wollongong brutal death/grinders New Blood, beercore grinders Fuck Oath and the grim merchants of doom Summonus (who's new CD fucking kicks arse by the way).
Sordid's farewell show is on May 2nd at the same venue. Shaneo from Bludgeoner, Fuck Oath and Roadside Burial fame will be playing bass for these last handful of shows. Sordid released their debut Sordid Remains on Grindhead Records back in 2006. Check out the Grindhead website for some free MP3 downloads.
In the coming months, Grindhead Records are also expected to release new albums from New Blood and Fuck Oath, so be sure to keep an ear out for all the latest. Maybe subscribe to this blog even. Ey?? EY??!
Quite a cool little Grindhead Records show on tonight which will be no doubt enhanced by the simplistic beauty of pints at an Irish Pub.
Grannyfist, Frank Rizzo, Code of Lies and Fuck Oath will all be grinding up The Harp Irish Pub at Tempe from 8:00pm. I recommend some form of steak/pint combination for maximum enjoyment (is there a bistro there?).
In case you don't know these bands; Grannyfist play Anal Cunt-inspired screeching breakneck grindcore, with an extremely talented drummer (who also plays in Roadside Burial with members of Sydney veterans Bludgeoner and Volatile) and a hilarious vocalist (who also DJs as Drillbit) armed with truly horrific and agonizing vocal effects.
Frank Rizzo are one of my favourite Sydney punk bands. Their music is fast, furious and catchy as hell, complimented by two vocalists who play very well of eachother. All up they are a killer six piece. Code of Lies are the promising young trans-genre grind band that I keep raving about (unforunately sans their caped vocalist Nathattak). Their new MCD The Age of Disgrace should be available on the night.
Last of all Fuck Oath are a crusty grind/hardcore band with members of many other Sydney bands. I haven't had a chance to catch these guys live yet.
See you cunts there.
