Dangers, Graf Orlock Australian Tour

Posted by Matt

F-Yes! It has finally been announced, the Australian tour for Dangers and Graf Orlock, it is going to be a huge tour with alot of the dates supported by Robotosaurus from all indications. Graf Orlock came to Australia a couple years back and they were really really great, super fast movie inspired grindcore, and with a new singer it only means they are better than before, Dangers are more of your straight up hardcore but are apparently great, I have only just started listening to them but it is pretty darn sweet.

FYI the secret show in Sydney is at AJ's house with supports by Handsome, Sexxy Kids and probably Totally Unicorn. I def recommend hitting this show up it is going to be huuuuuuge.

Fuck, they are all going to be huge! 3 Shows in Sydney, good times. For more information on the tunes by these 2 epic bands please see the links below.

Graf Orlock are a raging hardcore/grind band from Los Angeles, California. They play a style which has sometimes been dismissed as 'fake grind' or other stupid fucking bullshit. Please note that is exactly that - stupid fucking bullshit.

These dudes play angular, disonant and punchy metallic hardcore with very jarring start/stop passages, frantic bursts of blastbeats a solid helping of groove and plenty of tempo changes. They may not be the tightest grind unit in town, but they are undeniably aggressive and fun - especially live.

They obsess over the golden era of cheesey action movies - Robocop, Alien, Terminator, Total Recall and so on. As such, their songs are littered with awesome samples of one-liners and dialogue. Arnie quotes and raging grindcore? Sign me up!

Graf Orlock also operate their own label Vitriol Records. It is because of this that they are able to offer us FREE DOWNLOADS OF THEIR ENTIRE CATALOGUE.

Thank you Graf Orlock. Your geneoristy is much appreciated. Be sure to catch these guys live if they're in your town. I was lucky enough to play alongside them when they came to Sydney. They're a very energetic and fun live band.

The Best of 2008 – Lachlan

Posted by Lachlan

Tim from EbolieThe year is nearly fucking over and I am glad. I am done with this year. Despite that pessimism, there have been a few highlights. Doing this AusGrind thang with Matt has been pretty fun as we slowly build up our jerk base.

We really hit our stride this year with Grindhead Records and released some of my favourite albums to date; Gruesome Stuff Relish, Pathology, Beyond Terror Beyond Grace’s amazing full length, Long Pig and Sound of Detestation. We also put on an amazingly successful Slaughterfest II, with the Canberra show selling out at The Basement. Thank you to everyone who helped out or came to a show.

Ebolie recorded a full length album that I am very proud of. Kill A Celebrity managed to put together a split with my favourite chaotic grinders Krupskaya. I got to see Pig Destroyer, Meshuggah, The Mars Volta, Grave, Against Me!, Graf Orlock and many others, and even got to play with the mighty Insect Warfare - twice. Meanwhile local Sydney bands like The Crooked Fiddle Band, Hospital the Musical, The Bakery, Pirate, Squid, Club Consolador and Squat Club reinvigorated my love for the local music scene.

All I want to do with my life is play music and tour, so lets hope 2009 brings more of that. I’m a total fucking narcissist, so while here are my top albums of the year, expect a more verbose bat-off in the next few days with a description of each.

What albums did you guys really enjoy – inside and out of the grind scene? I’m curious.
