Sydney Weekend Gig Guide

Posted by mothereel

I should be doing Grindhead things and to some extent this is related...  Here's a choose your own adventure/genre for Friday night.  Free Doom or Death and Grind in Tempe?

Adrift For Days release their 2nd album this Friday night.  It's getting great reviews and the show is free.

Adrift For Days Album Launch

Grannyfist are launching their DVD.  I don't know who has seen it, but I'm told there's content on there that means it had to be created in another state.

There's also a gig happening at The Valve Bar on Saturday called 'Erkstock'.  Couldn't find a poster or event page.  It looks like it's more a hard rock thing for some guy's birthday.  Who are you not to attend?

A Poor Man’s Gig Guide

Posted by mothereel

First up is that The Exploited show has been cancelled.

I wrote poor man's gig guide because my searches haven't brought up much.  Matt's Michael Crafter is doing some Melbourne shows, you should have been able to see them.  So now it's onto NSW...

Grindhead Records Releases: Fear Of The Deep Blue, Grannyfist, Malignant Germ Infestation

Posted by mothereel

Grindhead Records has recently released 3 fine quality grinding albums.  Each has a promo track for download that is at the bottom of this post.

First up is long anticipated Malignant Germ Infestation's Fields Of Everlasting Love And Joy

Malignant Germ Infestation's Fields Of Everlasting Love And Joy
Malignant Germ Infestation's Fields Of Everlasting Love And Joy

Here's what Grindhead Record's has to say:

The Warped Maniac at the helm of Malignant Germ Infestationis back!

Delivering his most cohesive effort to date, "Fields Of Everlasting Love And Joy" is a semen soaked array of down-tuned, groove ridden riffs, sludgey bass lines & infectious pitch-shifted vocals mixed with electronic beats and samples.

Taking influences from bands such as Hymen Holocaust, Ahumado Granujo, Bowel Fetus and the legendary Cock & Ball Torture: Fields Of Everlasting Love And Joy is overflowing with demented and maladjusted tracks such as "Harpoon The Baboon", "Fecal Matter Splatter" and "At Your Service In Your Cervix". Malignant Germ Infestation is sure to please fans of Cyber infused Goregrind.
Then there's the highly demanded Double Penetration by Grannyfist
Grannyfist's Double Penetration

Grindhead Records says this:

Grindhead Records finally unleashes Granny Fist's "Double Penetration!"
The long awaited debut album from Australia's Masters of out-right filthy, depraved grindcore!  Double Penetration will golden shower you with 31 debauched, immoral blasting tunes!
Choc-A-Block full of dirty shredding riffs, mulish raging bass lines, suffocating, pummelling drums, and vile distorted vocals that will blow a load of twisted and sick lyrical themes right in your face!

If you like to be corrupted by bands such as Anal Cunt, Blood Duster, Whore and Pungent Stench, then check Granny Fist out!
Finally we're all excited about (Lachlan even gets thanked in the book notes) Fear Of The Deep Blue's Stormbreak
Fear Of The Deep Blue's Stormbreak
Fear Of The Deep Blue's Stormbreak

The words of wisdom from Grindhead Records:

Grindhead Records has dregged the darkest depths of the ocean to bring you Fear Of The Deep Blue's debut album, "Stormbreak"!

The Fear Of The Deep Blue sound bears a strong resemblance to waves crashing against rocks in a violent storm mixed with a healthy dose of groove and capped with eerie lonesome effects. It will chill you to the core and leave you stranded, sicking beneath the surface.

Stormbreak will engulf you in its sludgy, dense atmosphere of filthy bottom end, heavy crunching riffs, bowel snapping picth-shifted vocals and leave you with an unsettling feeling akin to being recently revived.

For fans of Catarsexual Urge Motivation, C.B.T, Libido Airbag & The Day Everything Became Nothing.

Grindhead Records offers a diverse range of extreme Death, Grind, Black, Stoner and Doom Metal as well as various Hardcore, Crust, Crossover Punk albums, vinyl, DVDs and Merch all with Free Postage Worldwide.

What about Sydney? Grind gig with DFH and far more.

So while those other dudelz are off around Australia and taunting the women of Asia with their possible arrival, perhaps those in Sydney should consider rocking up to...

A night of grinding death, blasts and noise featuring Daemon Foetal Harvest, Burial Chamber, Granny Fist, Corpsickle and Lower Back Problems (who I believe are quite new but feature members of numerous bands of yesteryear).

I couldn't find much of anything else out there to do this weekend.  There's just some sucky cover bands (both the band they are covering and the cover band itself suck) and boring 'indie' DJs.  Do you want to waste your time and money on those things?!?!?

Grindhead Records are also offering their release Gutted With Broken Glass for free to the first 50 people and all other releases on sale at the merch desk for a very tasty $5.  Bring a wad of cash and a bag.  For an idea of what CDs you may want to buy, head to the Grindhead site.

Give Give Praise Records A Logo/Mascot

Posted by mothereel

This one is all for you designers and graphic artists, or those who like to pretend to be either of those.

Paul from Give Praise Records, a record label that has been dealing in 'shred since 2005', would like to offer you some records in exchange for your talent, whether you think you're talented or not.  According to the website, anything relevent that is sent gets something resembling a record, that's even slightly better than a pat on the back or a tongue in the ear as the old people on those damn boats used to say.  So pick up your pens, your hair stylist or your combie van and get creating that logo or mascot, or even a logo and a mascot (a hint would be to maybe aim at something similar in style to Six Weeks Records or Slap-A-Ham Records stuff).  The winner gets a 'righteous amount of records!!!!!'.
