The Sydney Laneway Festival 2008
What an intense Festival. Probably my now most favorite in Australia.
This is a quick rundown of the festival.
This year was unreal. some of the standouts for me included Darren Hanlon singing Cindy Lauper and bagging out Rudd (Xaviour that is). The bass player from Okkervil River
that completely blew me away with his varied performance between the Manning Bar gig and Laneway, most probably because he was skulling straight Jack Daniels all the way through the set. But he really got me very interested, but they still somehow managed to keep it together.
The basement was probably my favorite stage as the fluctuation of people from packed in at Darron with an hour line outside then a complete turnaround and there was 5 people in there just before theredsunband. Dan Deacon a dark horse standout; he was amazing with the amount of crowd participation he got from the few that went and watched, it was mind blowing. Trashiest people going fucking nuts, I was scared. Also good performances form the likes of Broken Social Scene, Little Red were so catchy you could not not dance to them.
I'm still not sure what was real. All in all insane.
