Destroy The Valve Bar
The Mung are finally making it up to Sydney! To welcome them, show them around and in general, abuse their ears: a total of 12 bands showcasing a fairly diverse mix of the extreme genres has been put together and it's going to be all parties, drugs and fecal matter.
Highlights of the event are of course The Mung, who are bringing up their grindcore guts from Victoria, as are Whoretopsy, although their guts look more death metally. Joining them from Canberra are tech death titans, Tortured. Mother Eel is also playing our last Sydney show before we head to Canberra the weekend after (there'll be more on that later in the week or next week), we are also pleased to announce that our original drummer, Blather McQueen is in the throne again as a once off (for now).
Set times are loosely as follows:
The Mung 11:15-12am
Tortured 10-11pm
Red Bee 8:45-9:45pm
Hellitself 7:30-8:30pm
Whoretopsy 6:45-7:15pm
Mother Eel 6-6:30pm
Infested Entrails 5:15-5:45pm
Festering Drippage 4:30-5pm
Lower Back Problems 3:45-4:15pm
Exekute 2:15-2:45pm
Dead-Life 1:30-2pm
To Engineer An Exorcist 12:45-1:15pm
Grindhead Records will have a full distro of CDs available for $5.

Central West Death Fest
This weekend Orange is going to experience something truly unique. An all ages Death/Grind/Doom/Hardcore one-day festival. Organised by Hill Billy Josh who claims that it will run annually, it has a diverse bunch of bands and is super cheap! The whole thing is going to be filmed and released on DVD.
Headlined by Mother Eel, Sydney's oldest grind based and most intense and disturbing live band with supports from Orange's own Infested Entrails, Blue Mountain's Festering Drippage (hot off the support slot for Macabre - and just announced support for Cock & Ball Torture) and Sydney's Lower Back Problems. The bill is rounded out by locals Dead-Life, Newcastle's Empirical, other locals Near Life Experience and Once Within Reach.
It'll be more fun than recreating scenes from The Hills Have Eyes or Wolfcreek!

I should be doing Grindhead things and to some extent this is related... Here's a choose your own adventure/genre for Friday night. Free Doom or Death and Grind in Tempe?
Adrift For Days release their 2nd album this Friday night. It's getting great reviews and the show is free.

Adrift For Days Album Launch
Grannyfist are launching their DVD. I don't know who has seen it, but I'm told there's content on there that means it had to be created in another state.

Grannyfist DVD Launch
There's also a gig happening at The Valve Bar on Saturday called 'Erkstock'. Couldn't find a poster or event page. It looks like it's more a hard rock thing for some guy's birthday. Who are you not to attend?

So while those other dudelz are off around Australia and taunting the women of Asia with their possible arrival, perhaps those in Sydney should consider rocking up to...

A night of grinding death, blasts and noise featuring Daemon Foetal Harvest, Burial Chamber, Granny Fist, Corpsickle and Lower Back Problems (who I believe are quite new but feature members of numerous bands of yesteryear).
I couldn't find much of anything else out there to do this weekend. There's just some sucky cover bands (both the band they are covering and the cover band itself suck) and boring 'indie' DJs. Do you want to waste your time and money on those things?!?!?
Grindhead Records are also offering their release Gutted With Broken Glass for free to the first 50 people and all other releases on sale at the merch desk for a very tasty $5. Bring a wad of cash and a bag. For an idea of what CDs you may want to buy, head to the Grindhead site.
