thedowngoing Melbourne tour – November 24-26
Sydney’s 2-piece noisegrind purveyors’ thedowngoing are travelling south to unleash their ultra distorted cacophony of sound upon the unsuspecting masses of Melbourne this November in support of their latest EP. Watch out for their pessimistically positive attitude and ability to party harder than your average grind fan.
The self released, untitled mini-CD EP was recorded at the Brain Studios Surry Hills with Michael Taverner and mastered by Matheson Vaughn of local posi-violence heroes MICHAEL CRAFTER, and features 9 tracks of abrasive blasting in ten minutes.
Frontman Mathias Huxley provides an almost nauseating vocal performance atop his swirling guitar playing while skinsman, Muzz, supplies the spine to the sound with stoned blastbeats and jagged snare-work, while an organic layer of samples squirm into any moment of space, rounding out the claustrophobic sound of thedowngoing.
Hitting the road with support from some of Victoria’s most charming local bands, thedowngoing will be spitting vicious chunks of musical nihilism at the following events throughout November.
Thursday November 24 - Gasometer (upstairs) Collingwood
w/ Penguins, Go Genre Everything & Monolith

Happy Weekend!
Have a killer weekend, apologies for the lack of posts I've been in Melbourne working for the man. But while down there I got the chance to check out the new Agents of Abhorrence lineup for one of the last nights at the Arthouse Hotel, as their lease ends soon. Naturally, it was BRUTAL. My other pick for the night would have to be Yeap's from Pisschrist's new band Kromosom.
Melbourne math-metal band Vendors Rich have a new release for free download from their bandcamp, primarily unknown to me but I've listened to this stuff a couple times it's pretty good for those who dig the Dillinger Escape Plan / Robotosaurus style stuff. Mathy with some shoegaze and sludge thrown in for good measure. A bunch of kids that are worth keeping an eye on in the future for some seriously good and fresh music.
