Just released is a compilation of music from Tasmania, featuring an eclectic group of songs ranging from skramz, grind, punk and low fi pop.
Some great bands are included on their for those who love their technical skramz including the likes of Bears, Train Park. And of course Tassies seminal grind band Nowyou'refuckeD. Put together I believe by one of the members of Bears who now calls Melbourne home, this is part 3. Let's hope they keep pumping out these compilations to remind the rest of the country how rad Tassie is. Get acquainted with the diversity coming out of our great south.

Taking over FBI Radio – Monday 23rd May
Lachlan and myself jumped at the opportunity to spin some grindcore in the name of AusGrind late one night on FBI Radio, Sydney's best radio station by miles (for example, album of the week this week is the new Battles album, holy shit so happy). So anyway we set out to inform the general Sydney public of the awesomeness of grindcore, and although my mum still hates it we had a ball.
With Scott Fitzsimons manning the buttons we played a nice cross section of grind with a few other random gems thrown in for good measure and plenty of shameless self promotion. You can now stream the full two hour show below (language warning).

Review: NowyourefuckeD – Extra Positive
Grammatically incorrect tasmanians NowyourefuckeD offer up 15 tracks of grind on this digipak release for your listening pleasure, complete with microsong (the aptly titled microphallus), token self-titled song and plenty of references to the male genitalia.
NowyourefuckeD switch it up between groovy mid-tempo riffing and frantic jack-hammer-esque blast sections, with a big fat dirty bass underlying the entire sound, proving quite an impressive sonic experience. The metal-leaning grindcore here features some versatile vocals from frontman Sam, occasionally melodic, but mostly caustic wailing, ranging from the deep end, through mid-range screaming and even some higher-pitched moments sure to make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. And with song titles like "Spasticated Milkman" and "Gary Coleman" you can only assume the lyrical content isn't going to be deep existential mind-bending stuff, but it definitely fits this style of grind well.
And shit, if you don't find the idea of facebooking your mum funny, then you must be made of stone.
NowyourefuckeD mix up the structure of songs, with some very cool choke sections, bass leads and some impressive guitar riffs that you can bang your head to if that's your thing.
The drumming here ties everything together well, as drummer Chris manages to create a very claustrophobic feeling during faster passages and perfectly matches the groove of mid-tempo sections.
And with a 14 minute run time, this release really leaves me interested in where the band will go from here, and with talk of a split 7" with Super Fun Happy Slide, NowyourefuckeD are definitely a band to watch out for.
NowyourefuckeD European Tour
NowyourefuckeD have begun their European tour with Czech grinders Onanizer.
Hailing as the only decent band from Hobart, NowyourefuckeD will be waiving the Australian flag high through April/May. While over their they will be supporting Doom at Obscene Society fest as well as shows in Italy, France, Switzerland, Spain and the Czech Republic. Grind on brothers.
