Psycroptic sign to Nuclear Blast Records!

Posted by Lachlan

PsycropticHuge news: the astoundingly technical Tasmanian death metallers Psycroptic have been signed to Nuclear Blast Records! This is great news for the band and all of their fans, and we all congratulate the guys for breaking through to this level - the level of sheer dedication and professionalism that Psycroptic have shown over the years is downright impressive.

Psycroptic are currently on a 'Summer Slaughter' tour with an amazing roster of bands; The Black Dahlia Murder, Kataklysm, Vader, Cryptopsy, The Faceless, Despised Icon and Aborted!

Here's the press release:

Psycroptic & Soundworks Management are proud to announce that as of Friday June 20th 2008 Tasmania's own Psycroptic are officially signed to Nuclear Blast Records worldwide and Stomp for Australia for the new full length album due out this October!!!!

The band is ecstatic about this signing and the possibilities it is about to bring... let the brutality begin!

PsycropticNuclear Blast have signed the Tasmanian Technical Death Metal band PSYCROPTIC. US A&R Gerardo Martinez about the signing: "We are beyond excited to be working with one of the BEST Technical Death Metal bands in the world right now. We feel the band will reach the status they deserve in a short period of time. Also the band is euphoric about the cooperation.

Currently on tour in the USA as part of the massive Summer Slaughter package, the band themselves had this to say:

"To say that all of us in Psycroptic are excited to be working with Nuclear Blast is quite an understatement .. we're over the moon!!!! Nuclear Blast has always been the pinnacle of labels within the metal realm, and to be signed with them is a huge honor for us...and to be the first Tasmanian band to ever be on the label is a pretty awesome bonus as well. The artist roster is nothing short of amazing, and for Psycroptic to be added to it...well, we couldn't be happier!!" – Dave Haley (Psycroptic)

Stomp Australia had the following comments:-
Label Manager Darren Cherry commented. "Psycroptic are a pioneering and ever progressing force in extreme metal and Stomp are proud to be releasing their upcoming fourth studio album which we believe will take them to an entirely new level on a global scale".

Against The Grain 4 (SA) Festival Line-up Announced

Posted by Lachlan

Aww yeah, the line up for Against The Grain 4 on Saturday the 13th of September has been released. It's being promoted as all ages, all day and all metal at 'Fowlers Live', so get out your eyeliner, straighten your hair, praise Lucifer, whack on that bullet belt and patch jacket and practice your windmills because when it rains metal, it fucking pours!!!

Man I feel like Andrew Haug writing that level of metal cheese. This looks like a bit of a more mainstream/commercial metal festival, but its great to see The Ocularis Infernum on the bill.

Heres the full line-up anyhow:

- Psycroptic (TAS)
- Alchemist (ACT)
- Daysend (NSW)
- Double Dragon (SA)
- Picture The End (SA)
- Truth Corroded (SA)
- Dyscord (WA)
- Diatribe (SA)
- The Ocularis Infernum (VIC)
- Skintilla (SA)
- State of Integrity (QLD)
- A Red Dawn (SA)
- Se Bon Ki Ra (SA)
- Asphyxia (SA)

Tickets will only set you back ~$30 which is pretty impressive considering the number of larger and interstate bands, and the fest runs from midday to midnight. You can hook up tickets from Venuetix and Moshtix.

Heavy mental.

Relapse to reissue first four Blood Duster albums

Posted by Lachlan

Tony - Blood Duster - Australia DayWell here's some cool news; Relapse Records has decided to release the first four Blood Duster albums: Fisting the Dead, Yeest, Str8outtanorthcote (my favourite) and Cunt.

It looks as though Fisting The Dead and Yeest will be re-released in one package. All three reissues have been totally remastered and feature new artwork and bonus material. The release date for the reissues is May 5 internationally (or April 29 in the U.S.).

These reissues come just before Blood Duster are set to desecrate the U.S. for the first time ever (with Dave Hayley of Psycroptic on drums mind you); playing this years Maryland Deathfest alongside fellow Aussie's The Day Everything Became Nothing and Fuck... I'm Dead. Just the thought of those three bands absolutely fucking flattening the U.S. makes me smile - can you imagine the poor bastards who might have heard Fuck I'm Dead's split with Engorged just explode when they hear them as a 5 piece?!

The line up of this years Maryland Deathfest includes the likes of Repulsion, Nuclear Assault, Grave, Dying Fetus, Disfear, Ghoul, Coffins, Impaled, Gruesome Stuff Relish (who have a new album coming up on Grindhead Records!), Engorged, Anaal Nathrakh, Macabre, Dead, Phobia, Gadget, Flesh Parade, Afgrund, Behold the Arctopus, Circle of Dead Children, Keitzer and loads more. I'd go on, but to be honest I'm so insanely jealous I'd rather just put it from my mind.

Blood Duster turn emo

I'll do the predictable thing and put up a track of Drink, Fight, Fuck even though it's one of my least favourite Duster songs:
