$5 entry to the best night of your life. Dress code is Op shop formal.

Tonight is a show that is being called "the best night of your life", which for me isn't much to top*.   Featuring a slew of bands from the Blue Mountains, all with a harder hitting edge to them, but with different variances on the punk, hardcore, metal or rock genres, it'll be a great gig.

The night aims to end before the last train down the mountains and at only $5 entry it's a steal.  It's also All Ages, so you can educate your kids.  On the hush is that the event is also BYO!!

So get into dress code, Op Shop Formal, get on a train and get there tonight!

Icky Red Bee Album Launch

Posted by mothereel

The ever busy guys from Red Bee have landed a deal with Green Distribution which see's their album, "Ictus", officially launched this Friday, the 26th of October.  You'll have to travel though, keen fan, because the launch is in their homeland, the Blue Mountains.

The new album will combine their refined formula of mathy time signatures and progressive key changes with Metal with Hard Rock influences.  Each song having a different flavour depending on who created it.  The press release claims that often each member brings their own song to the table and on other songs they combine forces to create something altogether different.  They've always reminded me of a combination of Helmet, The Butterfly Effect and Botch.  The live show is full of energy, showing the experience of being on the road for around 10 years can bring.

That's probably enough from me really...
Here's some songs:
The 1st single off the album, 'Road Kill'

Another track is the 7th song off the album, 'The Thin Red Line'

Another Grinding Death Fest: Destroy The Valve Bar

The Mung are finally making it up to Sydney!  To welcome them, show them around and in general, abuse their ears: a total of 12 bands showcasing a fairly diverse mix of the extreme genres has been put together and it's going to be all parties, drugs and fecal matter.
Highlights of the event are of course The Mung, who are bringing up their grindcore guts from Victoria, as are Whoretopsy, although their guts look more death metally.  Joining them from Canberra are tech death titans, Tortured.  Mother Eel is also playing our last Sydney show before we head to Canberra the weekend after (there'll be more on that later in the week or next week), we are also pleased to announce that our original drummer, Blather McQueen is in the throne again as a once off (for now).

Set times are loosely as follows:
The Mung 11:15-12am
Tortured 10-11pm
Red Bee 8:45-9:45pm
Hellitself 7:30-8:30pm
Whoretopsy 6:45-7:15pm
Mother Eel 6-6:30pm
Infested Entrails 5:15-5:45pm
Festering Drippage 4:30-5pm
Lower Back Problems 3:45-4:15pm
Exekute 2:15-2:45pm
Dead-Life 1:30-2pm
To Engineer An Exorcist 12:45-1:15pm

Grindhead Records will have a full distro of CDs available for $5.

July 30: Slaughterfest IV featuring Fuck I’m Dead, Looking Glass, Mother Mars, Agonhymn and loads more!

Grindhead Records and 666 Entertainment present Slaughterfest IVFor me, annual underground stoner, doom, grind and metal festivals like Grindhead Records' Slaughterfest, 666 Entertainment's Doomsday and Little Bird Agency's Devil's Kitchen are often sure-fire shortlisters for the best gigs of the year. The promoters of each of those festivals usually have quite a knack for producing a smooth-running, well thought-out and well-promoted festival with just the right amount of big interstate names and variation of styles.

This years Slaughterfest - the 4th edition since the festivals inception back in 2007 - is certainly no exception. Infact, I honestly cannot remember a more impressive and varied line-up - nor a show I was more excited about. The value for money (15 bands for $20) is certainly nothing to scoff at.

Grindhead Records and 666 Entertainment have teamed up to bring us an incredible day, balanced out with a nice mix of grind, stoner, sludge, metal, crust, punk, hardcore and doom. If I can give you one piece of advice it would be to GET THERE EARLY. My gut feeling is this one is certainly going to sell out (you should be going out of your way to catch Fat Guy Wears Mystic Wolf Shirt anyway, they fucking RULE).

Without further ado, here is the line-up for Slaughterfest IV:
