Sydney Weekend Gig Guide
I should be doing Grindhead things and to some extent this is related... Here's a choose your own adventure/genre for Friday night. Free Doom or Death and Grind in Tempe?
Adrift For Days release their 2nd album this Friday night. It's getting great reviews and the show is free.
Grannyfist are launching their DVD. I don't know who has seen it, but I'm told there's content on there that means it had to be created in another state.

COUGH (USA) to engulf Sydney in a haze of bong smoke this weekend
I'd be hard pressed to think of a recent album more fantastically depressing, crushing and suffocating than Cough's Ritual Abuse. The good news for all of Australia is that Cough are currently on tour as part of 666 Entertainment's Doomsday Festival. Definitely one not to miss!
Also, be sure to check out Cough's interview in this weeks Drum Media.

Cough (USA) to headline Doomsday Festival 2011
Some excessively-nice doom-related news this morning! After the disappointment that was Church of Misery's cancellation for Doomsday 2011, Cough have been announced as the more-than-adequate replacement.
Cough play some seriously sludged-out doom with psychedelic overtones (listen here). As for me personally? I'm stoked. Nice on 666 Entertainment pals.
Check out more at 666 Entertainment's Facebook page. Go and be stoned.

July 30: Slaughterfest IV featuring Fuck I’m Dead, Looking Glass, Mother Mars, Agonhymn and loads more!
For me, annual underground stoner, doom, grind and metal festivals like Grindhead Records' Slaughterfest, 666 Entertainment's Doomsday and Little Bird Agency's Devil's Kitchen are often sure-fire shortlisters for the best gigs of the year. The promoters of each of those festivals usually have quite a knack for producing a smooth-running, well thought-out and well-promoted festival with just the right amount of big interstate names and variation of styles.
This years Slaughterfest - the 4th edition since the festivals inception back in 2007 - is certainly no exception. Infact, I honestly cannot remember a more impressive and varied line-up - nor a show I was more excited about. The value for money (15 bands for $20) is certainly nothing to scoff at.
Grindhead Records and 666 Entertainment have teamed up to bring us an incredible day, balanced out with a nice mix of grind, stoner, sludge, metal, crust, punk, hardcore and doom. If I can give you one piece of advice it would be to GET THERE EARLY. My gut feeling is this one is certainly going to sell out (you should be going out of your way to catch Fat Guy Wears Mystic Wolf Shirt anyway, they fucking RULE).
Without further ado, here is the line-up for Slaughterfest IV:
