Beyond Terror Beyond Grace support Grave Thursday

Posted by Lachlan

Blue Mountains grindcore band Beyond Terror Beyond Grace support the almighty Grave this Thursday night at The Gaelic Club (or The Gaelic Theatre as they like to refer themselves as now). Sydney death metallers Shackles are also supporting. Terrorust have pulled out of the gig and the national support slot with rumours circling that the band has disbanded.

Grave are one of the few death metal bands I can bring my disillusioned, cynical self to respect these days. These guys absolutely crushing old school Swedish death metal. If they are half as good as Dismember were a few years back then this gig will be well worth your while to head down.

Beyond Terror Beyond Grace - 8:30pm
Shackles - 9:30pm
Grave - 10:45pm

GRAVE (SWE) Australian Tour!

Posted by Lachlan

GRAVEThe crushing Swedish death metal band GRAVE are touring Australia! Having originally formed in 1986-1988, GRAVE are definitely one of the originals in the European death metal scene along with the likes of Dismember and Entombed - and their 1991 debut full length Into the Grave is an absolute classic. The national supports for the tour are Shackles and Terrorust - man doesn't it seem like Terrorust are supporting every fucking band nowdays? I must say I'm quite a fan of their new full length album Dominion VIII; it's a quality piece of crushing, mid-paced death metal - and one of the few death metal albums I have actually enjoyed in quite some time. Expect a fucking enormous live sound and some absolutely steam-rolling grooves. If you're an old school death metal fan and you're not into this... I dont know what to say.

Dec. 05 - The Globe Theatre - Brisbane, AUS
Dec. 07 - Corner Hotel - Melbourne, AUS

Realized (JAP) Australian Tour!

Posted by Lachlan

The Japanese hardcore/crust outfit Realized have kicked off their Australian tour as of last Sunday. Stop being so damn apathetic and check them out. You wont regret it.

Realized hail from the northern Japanese city of Sapporo. Based around the famed venue, Klub Counter Action, the Sapporo HC scene has been thriving since the mid 80s producing bands such as Face of Change, Spitfire & Knucklehead. While taking their cues from the traditions of hardcore and crust, Realized go way beyond the usually limited strictures of these genres. Their arrangements are densely layered, precisely executed and frequently build towards epic crescendos.

Despite possessing a brutal set of lungs, vocalist Fuji has a distinctly feminine, Iggy/Bowie-esque presence that provides them with an engaging focal point. Realized has supported the likes of The Locust and Insect Warfare in recent years. WeEmptyRooms & Broke Me Records, the team that brought you Birushanah, Palm & Ryokuchi, are proud to announce their forthcoming Australian tour. To commemorate, WeEmptyRooms will release a limited edition cassette of their long out-of-print second album. Their new album is out now through SMD.

Pig Destroyer Australian Tour!!!!!!!

Pig DestroyerDudes. Man. Dude man. Fuck yes. Fuck fuck fuck yes.

Most of you have probably already heard, but PIG DESTROYER ARE TOURING AUSTRALIA!

We've been holding back on the announcement until a few more details were made public/official, but we are proud to hook you up with all the pig destruction related information you'll need. I'm excited like a little kid: these dudes are one of my favourite active grind bands and they really dont tour much within their own country let alone to our neck of the woods.

Terrifyer and Prowler In The Yard should both be considered for listings in the 10 best grind albums ever made. Scott Hull has an endless supply of sick riffs, and J.R. Hayes couples one of the most agonizing, violent and unique sounding vocals in grind with what I consider to be the best lyrics in the genre.

Pig Destroyer Less talk more info. I wish Agents of Abhorrence, The Kill or Captain Cleanoff were national supports. Congratulations too to Beyond Terror Beyond Grace for the Sydney support slot; you deserve it guys and I am insanely jealous.

Tonight is Dismember and Batman!

Posted by Lachlan

Two very important things happen tonight:

1. Dismember.
2. Batman.

Batman: The Dark NightNow the choice between the two should be anything but clear cut: Dismember still stand as the best death metal band I have ever seen live - as far as I'm concerned the show that I saw them at surpassed that of Suffocation (who ruled), Nile, Cryptopsy (let down), Skinless (eh) and countless other.

On the other hand, I dont think I've ever been as excited for a movie as I have been Batman (maybe Planet Terror and Sin City comes close, but it hasn't had the sheer hype as Batman, nor did it have a totally awesome predecessor). And when you think about it, Batman is more than likely going to dismember people, and it seems like there is only a very slim chance a serious Swedish death metal ground is going to rock out wearing Batman costumes (though that would be cool, especially those camp 60s Batman costumes) - so the safe choice is probably Batman.

In all seriousness though; Dismember is on tonight and they impressed me enormously when they came out on the Where Iron Crosses Grow tour. I wasnt that big a fan of The God That Never Was, but from a few listen of the new self-titled effort it seems they're churned out another incredible album - which is no small feat this far into their career.

Go check them out - the Bat can wait another night... or can he???

Founded 1988 in Stockholm/Sweden, Dismember were among those responsible for Death Metal's big break through.

The Classic Debut album, "Like An Ever Flowing Stream" from 1991, has resulted in their rise to ' CULT ' status. After 20 Years of Unrelentless live performances and more classic album releases, Dismember is now back with their most crushing album to date!

The self titled Album "Dismember" is out now through Riot / Regain

One of the finest Swedish bands ever formed. Dismember have lost nothing in terms of intensity over the years . The sheer pace and passion of the songs are blistering and the vocal sounds are as pissed off as ever. Powerful riffs that are not in short demand, plenty of lead works and memorable melodic harmonies are what the metal scene needed and Dismember have them in Huge Spades.
Stockholm's Death Metal Gods are back to their glory days..... back to the early 90's.

If you missed out on the Australian 2005 Tour you could go to this if you want
