Central coast surf brat punk rock straight outa Swansea my illa and play some fuzzed out fast punk in the vein of Dead Kennedy’s and reminds me a tad of Eddy Current Suppression Ring, except funnier. These dudes grew up on the Newcastle beaches, came together to knock out some true punk cos its probably about all they can do. Lucky for us they kill at it. Oozing in some serious vibe. Get amongst it.

This whole album length was recorded in Brad’s house over a couple of weeks by myself, then we mixed it up real nice on the water in a house at Dora Creek over a couple of beers. Every song on this release is awesome, they all stand up by themselves as quality punk rock. They don’t play very often but when they do they rock out pretty darn hard. A mad vibing band.

Jess Locke’s latest EP out on Lesstalk Records “Skins” is about change. It is about relationships and growing up (yep, still growing up). Lyrically, the songs largely speak for themselves, the music also reflects and accentuates to the ups and downs; the subtlety and the intensity that the lyrics convey. This is a sad album in many ways, but its also extremely hopeful. Skins is catharthis.

This newest release was recorded primarily over a couple weeks in the kitchen of Garden St, opposite the office of Lesstalk Records (aka my bedroom). With a couple of mic’s and whatever instruments we found lying around in the loungeroom this was constructed slowly and meticulously whist still maintaining as much awesome vibe as possible. In the general style of everything Lesstalk, it features guests from many other artists on the label, those who happened to be passing through the Garden St house at the time. These guests include Marnie (Sweet Teeth, Origami Girls), Nathan (Sweet Teeth, The (temperamental) Pocket, N. Martin & Wells), Matt (Michael Crafter & The (temperamental) Pocket) & Maxwell (Halal, How Are You? & Rusty Emerton).

Jess Locke will be launching this EP in February by touring South East Asia.

Simo Soo scored a sweet support for Das Racist, the Brooklyn based much hyped and soon to be freaking HUGE rap group. Just think a less serious Wolfgang but with thicker beats and funnier lyrics. They are also playing Big Day Out on one of the smaller stages, and stuff going to that. They are playing Oxford Arts on Wed, 25th of Jan, I’ll see all you boys there!

Lindsay, also known as Virginia Sook has turned her stripped back acoustic songs into full band arrangements to release her debut EP on Lesstalk Records. Thus ensuring that these songs are as equally awesome on record as they are live. Recorded at Sun Distortion Studios in Brisbane by Chris Brownbill (IDYLLS, Capeweather, Nuclear Summer, Laeirs) this EP is music for fans of lovely storytelling and acoustic music.

I really enjoy listening to these songs, I think they speak out quite honestly, and in the short year or so I have known Lindsay I think she rocks the acoustic pretty hard. I’ve handmade only 100 of these and am sending 90 overseas with Virginia Sook for her launch dates as she tours South East Asia with Jess Locke, may I recommend buying one soon if you would like a copy.

A mixed bag event that seems to appear like Dave Zounds just rounded up all his fav bands from the east coast and convinced them to play Blackwire for him, that is awesome. N. Martin will be playing another of his rare solo shows. Thedowngoing and Fat Guy Wears Mystic Wolf Shirt are dueting on stage in a grind for grind speed championship. Make More‘s first trip to Sydney since To The North broke up, Dave Zounds playing in Milhouse, and maybe if we yell at him enough Euripedes Berzerker can play a reunion set. Touring throughout Malaysia, Singapore and Borneo with their stripped back bands, they will be playing sweet indie acoustic folk pop tunes to hum along to. Jess Locke (Melbourne) and Virginia Sook (Brisbane) are interstate friends who are coming together for this run of shows.

These guys produce some great chilled out music for fans of Cat Power, Bright Eyes and everything indie. Both Jess and Virginia Sook have a new EP each of songs released on DIY label Lesstalk Records and they are excited to show everyone. Make sure you listen to Jess Locke and Virginia Sook when they visit your town.
