March of the Real Fly‘s latest EP is a hark back to the raw beginnings of the band. Hailing from the vibrant blue mountains all so many years ago, fresh faced and wide eyed, Lesstalk records is fully stocked to be finally putting out one of their releases now they have established themselves as a raw pop band, not afraid to rock a show that pops up in their face, putting all their energy into each time they play. This release was recorded with Sydney producer Tim Fitz with a 4-track cassette recorder, DIY.

Its the end of yet another era, the end of Sweet Teeth. Good things come, good things go. It is something none of us have complete control over, as much as we think we do, or would like to. As greater friends as Sweet Teeth all are, and the bestest of times they may have had together, from their inception at Fay St, from their move to Sydney, playing the smallest house parties, supporting DDD! completely involving themselves the Sydney nightlife, making new friends with the Doc Holiday kids, long nights in the cupboard space of Will’s studio at 301, Nickles with his dedication and his help with their shows, playing every weekend loud and bratty. Thanks guys for letting me come to all your shows, partying with me, letting me crash on your floor, stand up the front of your shows, holding arm in arm with all the other huge fans screaming our lungs out, for playing the most catchy music that we could ALL singalong too. Luckily they have left the scene with a great collection of recordings and memories, and hopes for the future but I’m sorry that it couldn’t last forever.

Sweet Teeth and Michael Crafter, back from their joint tour through South East Asia are keen to continue the party. This will be the first run of shows for both bands in NSW in a very long time,.
Also up from Melbourne will be the chick fronted band Fully Cooked for some fresh faced fast punk rock for those with a short attention span. Fuck Easter lets party every night.

About: F’tang started out as a solo bedroom project with their first self-titled EP released on Lesstalk Records back in July 2009. Since then this project has developed into a 5-piece and the group have been playing shows in Sydney for the last year or so. Pinkish Hue is F’tang’s second official release and the first to be written & recorded by the full ensemble. Handmade with love, this very limited EP will be available from their bandcamp or downloaded as a pay as you wish honesty system from February the 1st.

I prefer to listen to this EP on a daily basis, particularly as the sun is going down, leaving work, hating on life, it will turn that frown upside down.

Cuzzies at the Reverence

An all acoustic unplugged afternoon at The Reverence for a couple pals Luke, Grace and Chris to play soppy acoustic music, drink beers and hang out. I’m going to start putting these on irregularly, get people that don’t usually play solo live for whatever reason to come to The Reverence, one of my favourite Melbourne pubs, and just play with mates during the arvo, instead of sitting at home on Facebook we can all go to the pub instead, because at the end of the day that’s what we do best.

In this EP, Nathan goes back to his rawer punk roots, songs that were written, recorded and released in 2012. Super posi, low fi pop, just think durries, skating and leopard print and that could be what it sounds like.

I really enjoy this release by Nathan, its a great little pop soundtrack when traveling alone in the car and you just need to get a bit of a lo-fi buzz going. Plus all you gotta do is download it and add to to the ever growing “N. Martin” section of your iPod.

Sweet Teeth are pretty much my favourite band, recorded, mixed, mastered and pressed in an awesomely timely fashion, this album was one of the smoothest release processes I think anyone in the band has experienced. I think it reflects in the manic music, what punk should sound like.
